MEET THE TEAM

Jane - The singing bike rider & Musical Director

Known as the ‘Singing Bike Rider’ during the COVID-19 lockdown, Jane brought joy to her choirs by creating short videos of herself cycling on Royd Moor, above Ingbirchworth. These sing-along videos were shared with her choirs at the time, Penistone Ladies and Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir, lifting spirits and fostering a sense of community. Jane’s dedication and creativity continue to inspire members of Coro Amici, and her ability to bring people together through music is truly admirable.  As a talented and experienced Musical Director, Jane’s presence at rehearsals is sure to bring both joy and excitement. Her passion for music and her ability to lead with enthusiasm make her an invaluable asset to any choir she works with.

Viv – The Restaurant taste-tester & Publicity Adviser

Viv has played a central role in Coro Amici since its very beginning. She fondly remembers brainstorming a multitude of potential choir names with Jane over a meal in a Sheffield restaurant before finally agreeing on Coro Amici. With a professional background in marketing, Viv now manages the choir’s promotion and social media presence, ensuring concerts and events are well publicised. For Viv, one of the main attractions of being part of the choir is performing in magnificent venues such as churches and cathedrals, both in the UK and abroad - not to mention the opportunity to sample local restaurants along the way!

Denise – The Spreadsheet Diva & Treasurer

Denise has been a member of Coro Amici since its formation. Her enthusiasm for singing is matched by her unexpected passion for spreadsheets, making her the ideal choice for the choir’s treasurer. Denise enjoys the wide variety of music performed by the choir and values the opportunities to travel to different venues. For her, the camaraderie shared with both longstanding and new friends alike makes Coro Amici a truly special experience.

Tom – The Imelda Marcos of Denby Dale & Accompanist

Tom, affectionately called the Imelda Marcos of Denby Dale for his love of shoes, joined Coro Amici in anticipation of the choir’s trip to Budapest in 2025. Having previously collaborated with Jane, Tom has been immersed in music from a young age as a church pianist and organist. Now serving as the accompanist for Coro Amici, he brings both skill and humour to the role, often quoting Eric Morecambe: “the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order.” Tom’s light-hearted approach and musical talent are a great asset to the choir.

Neilson – The Escape Artist & Super Assistant

Neilson joined Coro Amici in time for the upcoming Budapest tour in 2025, having previously sung with Jane in another local choir. By day, he manages a business, but music has always been a passion and a welcome escape from his professional responsibilities. Neilson also works behind the scenes, contributing to the organisation and planning that ensure rehearsals, concerts, and social events run smoothly for everyone involved.
